🗒️ Background

The research and design process for the app was carried out through a Design Sprint, an intensive process that helps solve problems and develop effective solutions quickly and efficiently. This methodology involves collaborative work to explore, design, and validate ideas, allowing for tangible results in a short period of time.

🗯️ The Challenge

Due to the current state of the housing market, in Spain 70% of young people who move out on their own choose to share a flat. However, living with people who have different habits and personalities can lead to conflicts and discomfort.

For this reason, it is essential to encourage healthy co-living dynamics and promote communication among flatmates, ensuring that the shared living experience is enjoyable, positive, and balanced for everyone.

✏️ The Research

We analyzed the most common problems and their possible solutions through asking ourselves questions about what the users might want to achieve within the app; creating a road map for each user persona and providing answers to how might we respond to their concerns.

🎯 **The Solution

Habitz** is a mobile app designed to help flatmates organize activities and strengthen their co-living experience through gamification.

Users can create their own plans or choose from pre-set options, each featuring a challenge. The winner earns rewards, such as being exempt from a major chore or choosing the next activity, while the loser takes on a household task as a penalty. Additionally, users accumulate points for every completed plan, which can be redeemed for small rewards, making shared living more engaging, organized, and fun.

🤗 Phase 01 / Understand and Empathise

In a group of 4 members, we analyzed the most common problems and their possible solutions:

🎤 Sprint Questions:

Key questions in a Design Sprint that usually start with "Can the user...?" They help identify user actions and expectations, guiding the design process to ensure the product meets user needs

🛣️ Road Map:

We tell the story of real people, with genuine pain points. Placing the user in a specific scenario helps us connect with them and the problem we're trying to solve.

🧠 How might we…?

Or "How could we make it easier for...?" We grouped the questions by theme to better organize the proposals during the voting process.

Findings – Identified Problems:

🤔 Phase 02 / Ideate

We focused on brainstorming features that encourage positive interactions, organization, and engagement through gamification. We looked for information architecture inspiration and developed sketches with the Crazy 8’s technique.
